Becoming an MAA Gallery Member and Exhibitor
Showing at the gallery is a multi-step juried process. All applicants for MAA Gallery membership must be a member in good standing of the non-juried Manchester Artists Association.
Step 1: APPLY TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE GALLERY
Fill out the MAA Gallery Application and submit 4 slides or 4 pictures (4X6 to 8X10 size) of your artwork. These should be representational of the quality of your work. Include your name, medium and finished framed size of the piece on the back of each picture or on the front of each slide. Please include an Artist’s Statement or a Bio, if you have one. You will be notified of your acceptance into the Gallery.
Step 2: SUBMIT TO EXHIBIT IN SHOW
Completed applications, which include painting titles, must be submitted by deadline date, so that accurate labels can be printed prior to the day of hanging. On the day of hanging, bring your specified 5 to 6 pieces of artwork to the gallery. Please note that if your work is exceptionally large, you may have less pieces for display. The amount of space available to each artist is dependant on the number of participants in each show.
The MAA Gallery reserves the right to eliminate artwork that does not meet the jurors’ level of excellence, including framing. (The gallery cannot exhibit any nudity.) Drop-off, pick-up and other information specific to each show will be provided on the application form. Once all submissions are juried, you will be notified which pieces were accepted.
Additional Items
Exhibitors may also submit unframed originals (which will be placed in a bin), prints, and note cards.
Additional Opportunities
- Gallery members who are not exhibiting artwork in a show may have prints, unframed originals, and/or notecards in the bins or racks for no cost. They will be expected to sit for two shifts (or 1 full day) during each show during which they have bin and/or rack items.
- Gallery members may schedule a mini-reception (Saturday’s or some evening) – be sure to reserve the date and if you do it a month before the start of the show – your reception will be on the Postcard.
