Duane
Hammond’s hilarious fine art pastel paintings of pigs have
been making a lot of noise: squeals, snorts and groans
accompany the turning of each page as the reader encounters
characters such as Albert Swinestein, Ludpig von Beethoven,
and Ernest Hamingway, cultural icons Forrest Grunt, Rush
Limboar and the infamous Male Chauvinist Pig. There are
also masterpieces of art in the hands of Pigasso, Vincent
van Hogh and Andy Warthog as well as a few less reverent
pieces dealing with motorcycles, football and our love of
food.
Hammond’s book received a
boost when New Hampshire Chronicles featured his art
in a segment that they’ve aired many times recently and
Fritz Weatherbee hailed him as “one of the most creative
artists in the state.” The illustrator will also have giclee
prints of his work available and autograph copies of his
book. Pigs in a Poke, Collection #1 (Beech River Books,
2006) has been nominated for an award as the best humor book
of the year by an independent publisher.
Duane will be signing his
book and prints at the reception and Trolley Night.
